There are plenty of opportunities for shopping on Maui. Our local towns, farmers’ markets, and specialty shops boast a wide array of unique, locally made products. When you shop local, you’re not only supporting our economy and artisans, but you’ll also take home a cherished souvenir or gift.
So, where do you go to shop for Maui-made souvenirs? Hint: it’s not Walmart or ABC Store. Big box stores carry fun products, but few—if any—are made locally on Maui. Below you’ll find our favorite artisan markets where you are sure to find a one-of-a-kind souvenir made right here on Maui.
Ultimate Guide to Maui’s Artisan Markets:
Where to Find Maui-Made Souvenirs
• West Maui •
Maui Gift and Craft Fair
Maui Gift and Craft Fair is West Maui’s largest craft fair, held every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm at Lahaina Gateway Center. You can shop over 50 vendors selling anything from art and jewelry to historical prints and maps. While we wait for Front Street’s art galleries to make a comeback, shopping at this market is a great way to support local Lahaina artists.
Napili Farmers Market
Shop fresh fruit, pottery, sauces, lauhala woven goods, and more at the Napili Farmers Market, held every Wednesday and Saturday morning across the highway from Napili Market. Come here to get to know the local community and support local artisans.
Olowalu Farmers Market
Everything—yes, EVERYTHING—at Olowalu Farmers Market is made in Hawaii. Come here to add a taste of the tropics to your pantry. You’ll find candies, chocolate, rubs, jams, salts, jerky, marinade, and everything in between. Open daily from 8 am to 5:30 pm.
Hotel Artisan Markets
Many hotels around the island host regular artisan markets or pop-up vendors. Check for market events on the hotel’s website or drop in to browse. This goes for South Maui as well!
• South Maui •
South Maui Gardens
South Maui Gardens hosts a weekly artisan market featuring vendors from around the island. They also feature pop-up vendors throughout the week and a smattering of local businesses on-site. There are also over ten food trucks in the gardens, since we all know shopping makes you hungry! Open Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Wailea Village Farmers Market
Wailea Village Farmers Market boasts much more than fresh produce. Here you’ll find Maui’s premier vendors selling everything from skincare and soap to cookies, koa wood creations, and floral arrangements. Held every Tuesday at Wailea Village from 8 am to 11 am.
Kihei Wailea Gift and Craft Fair
This is the South Maui edition of the Lahaina Gift and Craft Fair—and it grows bigger every year. Held on the corner lot of Keonekai Road and South Kihei Road, this market features a wide range of products and vendors. You’re sure to find something one-of-a-kind here. Plus, you can hop in the ocean across the street once you’re done shopping! Held every Wednesday from 9 am-2 pm.
• Central Maui •
Maui Swap Meet
Maui Swap Meet is among Maui’s largest markets, with about 200 vendors and thousands of shoppers each week! Held at UH Maui College every Saturday morning, the Maui Swap Meet is the place to find unique gifts and souvenirs, meet the local community, and try delicious food from a variety of vendors and food trucks. Entry is 75 cents per person.
Wailuku Town
Okay, so clearly, this isn’t an artisan market. However, Wailuku Town is a great place to find artisan goods! This charming historic town is full of art galleries and locally owned boutiques. For souvenir shopping, check out local artworks and clothing at Paradise Now and cultural books and crafts at Native Intelligence. You can also stop by the Wailuku Town Party on Market Street on the first Friday of every month for more local vendors, food, and live entertainment!
Made in Maui County Festival – SEASONAL
If you’re on Maui during the first weekend of November, you’re in for a treat: the Made in Maui County Festival! This is the largest product show in Maui County, with hundreds of vendors, dozens of food trucks, live entertainment, and giveaways throughout the day. This year’s date is set for November 8 at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
• Upcountry Maui •
Upcountry Farmers Market
The Upcountry Farmers Market is one of the longest-running markets on Maui. This open-air market features a ton of fresh produce, plus unique products like windchimes, handmade cutting boards, hot sauces, and everything in between. Vendors can vary from week to week, so you never know what you might find. Held every Saturday morning from 7 am to 11 am at the Kulamalu Town Center.
Kula Country Farms
This roadside farm in Kula is a fantastic place to stop and soak in bicoastal views, as well as browse local goods. Produce is definitely the focal point here (it is a farm, after all), but the gift shop also includes a wide variety of take-home edible goodies—think jerky, jams, sauces, and candies—as well as locally made knick-knacks. Open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
