April Hot Picks: Where to Stay on Maui
Is there anything lovelier than April on Maui?! There are a million reasons to love this month on the Valley Isle. Days start to get longer, winter rainstorms become less frequent, and the wild and unruly surf on the north-facing shores begins to calm.
As the hecticness of spring break fades and snowbirds head home, April offers a quiet reprieve from the crowds before the summer masses start filtering in. Plus, there’s still an excellent chance of spotting humpback whales, especially in early April. If you’re visiting in April, check out this month’s Hot Picks for accommodation!
West Maui: Kaanapali/Kahana/Napili
With golden-hued beaches, epic snorkeling, and restaurants and accommodations galore, West Maui is the location of choice for countless Maui visitors. In April, scores of athletes flock to the shores of West Maui for the famed Maui Marathon. Starting in Kahului, the coveted Boston Qualifier race travels a 26 mile route and culminates at the Kaanapali Resort. Meanwhile, Lahaina’s most iconic attraction is celebrated this month— the Lahaina Banyan Tree. This year, the tree is celebrating its 150th birthday! Festivities abound on Front Street to honor the Banyan Tree’s “plant” day, complete with live entertainment, keiki crafts, and a birthday cake.
